The wordmark draws inspiration from the carved stones that house Taíno petroglyphs, with letterforms shaped to resemble monolithic stone forms rising from the ground. The museum symbol—an abstracted “E”—is derived from the museum’s architectural footprint, translating the building’s plan into a simple geometric mark. Together, these elements establish a visual language that references Puerto Rican heritage while forming a flexible system for exhibitions, programs, and community engagement.
The project was completed during an eight-week class at Useful School, a pay-what-you-wish program for BIPOC designers, with a focus on acknowledging and translating cultural heritage into meaningful design.
I led the project and developed the brand identity system.
