Ten posters feature ten selected Plastic Artists, a term coined to indicate contemporary creators who use unorthodox materials, represented by found objects and industrial plastic, to create works of art. The Plastic Artists logo reverses the recyclable icon to indicate that the art-making process dematerializes industrial plastic and transforms it into unrecyclable.
A three-part exhibition further elaborates the concept of Plastic Artists. Part I: The Plastic Artists showcases these posters printed on plastic film to introduce the audience to plastic artists. Part II: The Creation of Plastic Artists, a workshop, invites the audience to reproduce art with copies of these posters, transforming the identities of the audience into creators. Part III: Post-plastic Artists presents works created by the audience from Part II in a collective manner.
Finally, a series of campaigns promote the exhibition through multiple media. With the slogan “Art for Everyone,” a non-profit organization celebrates individual expression and creation through online auctions of these reproduced artworks.
I led the project, conducted design research, and designed all the posters and graphics.
